Adia likes to pull the blankets out of my basket, curl up inside and fall asleep. She calls it her chickadee nest (for the worried moms out there the sides are loosely woven).
Today I watched kids climbing up the slide having a really good time about it.
I turned to the parents and said, "I love that you let your kids climb up the slide. It drives me crazy when parents make such a big deal about kids playing on something the wrong way. They are just having fun and getting exercise."
I was a little confused on their reaction I watch faces more then I listen to the words so when they said "Foot in your mouth."
I came to really confused on what that conversation was about.
I hardly listen to people when they talk.
Spencer told me that while the kids were climbing up the slide the parents were yelling at them to stop. I had congratulated them on not doing what they were doing.
I then watched the dad get up and scream in the little girls face about not climbing down the rock wall.
I'm really glad I didn't pay any attention to what he was saying. I'm a much happier person when I don't listen to people.
Also, Kids need to play more without parents dictating how it should be done.

amen! i hate that too! who cares?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
whoops on the foot in your mouth part. oh well. pretty hilarious though. i think you are a fantastic mom!
I fully agree. For heavens sakes people, let kids be kids!
Glad I found your blog again. I forgot how much I enjoy it. Thanks for posting it on facebook.
hear! hear! I just don't have the energy to care that much about so many little things like that.
soooooooooooo many parents don't let kids be kids anymore! i work as a nanny and i make sure that the 3 girls i care for have time to play on their own terms fully uninterrupted by me. and honestly, it's when they are at their best and happiest.
i cringe when kids are at the park and the parents (who have taken them there to play) call out to "not swing too high" or "don't go all they way up on the slide" etc. you took them to the park, people! it's like putting a plate of chocolate cake down in front of a chocoholic and then saying they can't have it. c'mon!
children learn through play. children learn from other children. children learn from their mistakes, whether it be putting a shoe on the wrong foot or bonking their head when they spin in circles for too long.
sigh. i'll be your follower. :)
that picture is so cute!
She intentionally goes to sleep? Really? You lucky lucky parents!
And yes, same as everyone else. Let them play and eat cake for that matter.
Kids need a chance to fall down and get hurt, so they can learn to pick themselves up again.
Kids shouldn't go up slides! Or down walls! Or skate backwards! Or speak! CHILDREN ARE DEVILS! THROW CAKE AT THEM AND RUN! RUNNNN!!!!!!
Throw cake at ME and run! Please! I like cake!
That's hilarious. I'm glad that happened anyway. I can't believe they said "foot in your mouth." That is such a dumb expression. I would have just said "thanks" and taken the compliment, even if it were mistakenly given. I'm the same way. I'm a terrible listener. I do want to listen, but I am so distracted by what I'm thinking. Sometimes I hear the words and I THINK the response in my head but I'm so involved in my thoughts, there's no time to articulate a response. I really need to work on that so I can still have friends.
